Heading west from Vancouver, just north of the American border, we drove
through the beautiful Canadian Rockies. We made it to Osoyoos just as it
was getting dark and stopped to watch the lights come on on the opposite shore…
As we headed north into Washington, we pulled off the coast to visit
friends in Seattle. This is the Seattle skyline from I-5. I’ve always
thought of cityscapes are an interesting portrait of a city.
Further along the Pacific Coast Highway I came across a lighthouse, just
before dusk. Perhaps it comes from my growing up far from the ocean, but
I’ve always been fascinated with lighthouses and the lighthouse as a
symbol in the way they stand as a sentinel and unmoved, regardless of the
storm they brews around them.
The Pacific Coast Highway branches away from the edge of the ocean a
little, particularly if you take a wrong turn! This is along CA-1, among
the forests off the coast of California. But how can a picture capture
the scene? It’s like trying to draw a dream…
I thought the buildings across the street, neatly tucked together,
looked quite neat. Newer cities just don’t wedge things together that
close anymore…
I took a road trip and wanted a picture of the “Welcome to…” signs are
the various state lines. As I drove into California, the road was under
construction. The two were too funny together — “Welcome to California”
and “Road Closed”!
There a railway that runs through town and some of the neatest things
are just off the tracks. Here appear to be some repair supplies left at
the side of the rails. I love the colour the few plants add to the scene.
