The Provo Temple at night is beautiful when lit up at night, and even better from above. This was taken from Squaw Peak, just up Provo Canyon. This was also taken with my zoom lens - next time I’m taking my tripod to improve my odds of getting good night photos.

It’s amazing how much my telephoto lens lets me zoom in. The flip side is you have to hold VERY still to get good pictures because the zoom magnifies every little movement you make when holding the camera.

This is uncropped, of the plugin about 4 feet from where I was sitting. The orange-ish hue is a result of the low lighting.

I’ve been toying with it for over a year and so I finally went out and bought a portable hard drive. Now I’ll be able to carry all of my photos with me on the go. The literature that comes with it says it has room for 150,000 JPEG’s…

Since I’m making up the rules, it can’t be cheating and I’m going to put up another photo. Perhaps it even works better when placed beside the mountains from earlier today. I love the colour in the flowers, especially against the quieter background. The flowers, with their bent and twisted petals, give a realism to the scene. How wonderful it is to be close to nature. :)

Note to self: When you take your camera out to take pictures, make sure you have a memory card to store said pictures!

So this is actually my second try at taking photos today, and I wonder if I could have got something with my other lenses… But in any case, here I present to you the flowers! The shot is simple enough, but I like the effect of the muted background behind.

So tomorrow, I bring the lenses and the memory card…

Project 365 — An Introduction

Project 365 is an idea I’ve seen tossing around online various places and decided to give it a try. The basic premise is to take a picture every day for a year.  I started on July 9th and today is the 26th, so I have 10 photos in 18 days… hmmm. But I’ll do better — school has cooled off and I feel like I’ve gotten a better hang of what this project is going to require in terms of dedication.
